ACE holds riders, teams, management and sponsors accountable to each other, their sport and the public. In doing so, ACE protects the investments of the sponsors and enhances the reputation and marketability of the teams and athletes.
The core of ACE's anti-doping program is longitudinal testing of biomarkers. We additionally test for a number of banned substances. The frequency of testing is dependent on the pharmacokinetics and half-lives of the substance in question and the duration of it's effects on body chemistry.
The ACE Pure Programs originate from a common source:
Competition should occur on a level playing field. Athletes should be held responsible for their behavior. ACE independently holds participants accountable to their teams, their sponsors, their sport and the public.
Our programs vary in size, price, and scope, but our purpose is to protect sponsors, teams, events and the public’s trust in sport by creating and promoting a level playing field.
To create a climate in cycling that awards responsible athletes, our participant teams, organizations and events participate in one of the following programs:
Pure Sport Program (Make a Statement)
- ACE collects an average of 26 samples (urine and blood) per rider during each season PLUS * an additional pool of 20% of tests based on the number of riders on the team
- Virtually all testing is random, at a frequency on average of once every 14 days.
- CE manages, oversees and provides appropriate data for the quarterly required UCI testing.
- ACE testing includes longitudinal analysis of rider bio-markers and detection of prohibited substances as published by WADA.
- “Prohibited Substance” shall mean any substance or method found on the most current version of the WADA list of prohibited
- substances and methods, as updated from time to time by WADA. This includes:
- Blood cell testing for CBC and Recticulocyte cell count, Hb mass, Off score and other standard blood test parameters used in the sport;
- Blood serum testing for FSH, LH, and GH; and
- Urine testing of the Endogenous Anabolic Steroid Panel and Anabolic Banned Substances Panel
- New tests as they become practical.
Pure Riders Program (Take a Stand)
- ACE will collect an average of 12 samples (urine and blood) per rider during the course of the year.
- Virtually all testing is random, at a frequency on average of once a month.
